Since release 4.1.0, Elzi can make pictures on your Mac. When the Image Generation extension is on in a chat, you ask for a picture in plain words, and Elzi renders it with an open image model running locally and shows it in the chat as it renders. Every picture lands in the Images library, with the prompt and settings that made it. Once the model weights are on your Mac, rendering works offline.
Making a picture
- Turn on the Image Generation extension in a chat. It is off by default.
- Ask Elzi for a picture. The chat shows "Rendering image…" and then the picture.
- Find it again under Images in the sidebar, newest first.
Each picture in the library shows its prompt, model, seed, steps and render time. You can reveal it in Finder, copy its path, open the session that made it, or delete it. Deleting removes the file and can't be undone. A picture is only written inside the session's folder or the library.

Settings and requirements
The Images tab in Settings sets the default model, shows which models are installed, and has a Test render that makes one 512 × 512 picture with the default model. Renders use mflux, the MLX image engine for Apple silicon, so mflux needs to be installed on your Mac and the model's weights downloaded from Hugging Face. An optional runner setting can send renders to another Mac; left empty, renders run on this Mac.
