LeanZero Link connects the Macs where you have signed in to Elzi with the same LeanZero account. Each Mac shows the others with their memory, disk and models. From the Mac in front of you, you can run a model on another Mac and chat with it, copy a model to it over Thunderbolt, or split a large model across two. Each Mac decides what the others may do with it.
Setting it up
- Sign in on each Mac with your email. You get a 6-digit code that is valid for 10 minutes and works once.
- The app joins that Mac to your private mesh by itself. It runs its own mesh, separate from any Tailscale you already use.
- On each Mac, choose what the others may do under "Let my other devices use this Mac": load and download models, answer chat, or run part of a split model.
- Allow macOS Local Network access for the app when asked.
A Mac that hasn't allowed something says where to turn it on instead of failing silently. Link reconnects at every launch if you left it on.
What you can do
- My Macs: one card per Mac with its state, what it runs, free memory and disk, model count and chip.
- Models: one table with a column per Mac, showing whether each model is on disk, loaded, copying or not there.
- Run it: start a model on this Mac, on another Mac or across both. Each choice shows a predicted speed, and a missing model is copied first.
- Chat with a model on another Mac. The answer streams back and Stop works. If that Mac drops, the chat says so within a few seconds and offers to load the model here instead.
Measured
- Qwen3.8-27B (our Atlassian fine-tune) running on the M3 Ultra Mac Studio answered a chat from an M4 Max MacBook Pro at 29.9 tokens per second, reading the prompt at 314 tokens per second (24 September 2026). It was ready about 25 seconds after start.
- Copying a model from the MacBook to the Mac Studio over Thunderbolt 5 ran at 2.04 GB/s with every file checked, against 0.093 GB/s over Wi-Fi (23 September 2026).
Good to know
The other Mac must be awake and have the model on disk with enough free memory. Link doesn't sync your project files, and choosing a cloud provider still sends requests to that provider. Link also lets you send agent work to a linked Mac, as described on the Elzi page.
